Abstract:
The article looks at the distinction between philosophers Isaac Levi and C.S. Peirce's epistemology. Topics include the problems in double-standard interpretations of Peirce's areas of inquiry and Levi's tension of interpreting Peirce as subscribing one normative standard for inquiry. An interpretation of Peirce, in which differences between areas of inquiry are descriptive, is given.
